Multiplication of a Decimal Fraction by a Power of 10

■ Rule : Shift the decimal point to the right by as many places of decimal as is the power of 10.
e.g. Evaluate : (i) 5.4203 100 (ii) .0189 1000 (iii) .003 10000
Soln. (i) 5.4203 100 = 542.03 ( Shift decimal 2 places to the right )
(ii) .0189 1000 = 18.9 ( Shift decimal 3 places to the right )
(iii) .003 10000 = .0030 10000 = 30.
