(1) A and B started a business by investing Rs. 50000 and Rs. 40000 respectively. Find the share of each out of an annual income of Rs. 41400.
Soln. Ratio of shares of A and B = 50000 : 40000 = 5 : 4.
Now, divide Rs. 41400 in the ratio 5 : 4.
Share of A = 41400 = Rs. 23000
Share of B = 41400 – 23000 = Rs. 18400.
(2) A and B started a business investing Rs. 20000 and Rs. 25000 respectively. After 5 months, A left and C joined the business after 3 months of A left by investing Rs. 30000. At the end of the year, there was a profit of Rs. 2340. Find the share of each.
Soln. Money invested by A = Rs.20000 for 5 months, by B = Rs.25000 for 12 months and by C = Rs.30000 for 4 months.
A : B : C = ( 20000 5 ) : ( 25000 12 ) : ( 30000 4 ) = 5 : 15 : 6
A’s share = 2340 = Rs. 450
B’s share = 2340 = Rs. 1350
C’s share = 2340 – 450 – 1350 = Rs. 540.
(3) Abhishek, Rohan and Karan hire a meadow for Rs. 2430. If Abhishek puts in 25 cows for 10 days, Rohan puts 10 cows for 20 days and Karan puts 25 cows for 9 days. Find the rent to be paid by each.
Soln. Ratio of consumption made by Abhishek, Rohan and Karan
= ( 25 10 : 10 20 : 25 9 ) = 250 : 200 : 225 = 10 : 8 : 9.
Abhishek’s share = 2430 = Rs. 900.
Rohan’s share = 2430 = Rs. 720. Karan’s share = Rs. 810.
