Slope ( m ) of a line

☼ Slope ( m ) of a line :–

If a line is perpendicular to X – axis ( or vertical ), then Slope = m = ∞

If a line is parallel to Y – axis ( or horizontal ), then Slope = m = 0

If a line passing through two distinct points A(x₁, y₁) and B (x₂, y₂), then

Slope = m = $\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}$

If a line makes an angle θ with positive direction of X – axis, then

Slope = m = tan θ

If an equation of a line is ax + by + c = 0, then Slope = m = – $\frac{a}{b}$

If a line passing through origin, then its Slope = m = $\frac{y}{x}$
