RULE | USAGE | |||
1. | A transitive verb is sometimes followed by two objects. In such cases, the sentence may have two passive forms. | 1. | Father granted Mohan the permission. The permission was granted to Mohan by father. Mohan was granted the permission by father. | |
2. | Certain verbs are always followed by prepositions. So a preposition after the verb must be retained in passive voice. | 2. | She laughed at Ramesh.
Ramesh was laughed at by her. |

3. | Some ideas like commands / orders / requests may be expressed in passive voice. | 3. | 1. Please post these letters. You are
requested to post these letters. 2. Open the door. You are ordered to open the door. |

4. | Imperative sentences can be turned into passive voice by using ‘let’. Formula : Let + Object + Be + Past Participle | 4. | 1. Post this letter. Let the letter be

5. | A few verbs in passive voice are followed by a number of prepositions.
