☼ How to change the direct speech into indirect speech when the sentences are ot isolated but they are in the form of conversation.
Rules : – (1) keeping in mind the meaning of each sentence, use appropriate reporting verb. (See page 33 of booklet)
(2) To maintain the continouty of the conversation, use the phrase or words like added’, ‘further added’. ‘there upon’, ‘immediately’, ‘after that’, ‘then’, ‘so’, etc, as needed.
Example : – “What a fine dress you are wearing !” Did you buy it from here ?” Samir asked Jyoti.
“No, I bought it from Surat,” She replied.
“How much did you pat for it ?”
“Only one thousand rupees.”
Samir exclaimed admiringly (to Jyoti) that she was wearing a very fine dress, Then he asked her if she had bought it from there. She replied in negative and explained that she had bought it from Surat Samir asked her how much she had paid for it. Jyoti replied that she had paid only one thousand rupees for it.
