Decimal Fractions

☼ Decimal Fractions : Fractions in which the denominators are powers of 10 are called decimal fractions.

▪ $\frac{1}{10}$ , $\frac{1}{100}$ , $\frac{1}{1000}$ etc. are respectively the tenth, hundredth and thousandth part of 1.

▪ $\frac{9}{10}$ is 9 tenths, written as 0.9 = .9 ( called decimal nine or point 9

▪ $\frac{17}{100}$ is 17 hundredths written as .17 ( called decimal one seven )

▪ $\frac{7}{100}$ is 7 hundredths written as .07 ( called decimal zero seven )
