☼ Not only . . . . but also : –
(1) The two sentences which are joined by ‘Not only . . . . but also’ are supplement of each other.
(2) It is used to join two subjects, two verbs, two objects, two adjectives etc.
(3) When the two subjects are joined, the verb of the later subject is used.
(4) When we use ‘Not only . . . . but also’ the words in the second sentence like, also, too etc, are removed.
↦ Examples :–
(1) Rita is smart, Pina is smart.
Not only Rita but also Pina is smart.
(2) Mr. shah attended my birthday party. His wife also attended my birthday party.
Not only Mr. shah but also his wife attended my birthday party.
