☼ Rational Expression : An expression of the form , where p(x) and q(x) are a polynomials and q(x) 0, is called a rational expressions.
Every polynomial is a rational expression but every rational expression need not be a polynomial.
e.g. (i) 5 x2 – 7 x + 2 is a polynomial
and 5 x2 – 7 x + 2 = is a rational expression.
(ii) But is a rational expression but not a polynomial.
