The Double Comparative Construction

☼ This is one kind of degree of comparison which is used in a special kind of a formation / construction of a sentence.
We use “the” in front of each of two comparative adjectives or adverbs to indicate a parallel increase or decrease.
Construction / formation of a sentence
the + comparative + subject + verb . . . first clause
the + comparative + subject + verb . . . second clause
↦ Examples :–
(1) You walk faster. You will reach earlier.
The faster you walk, the earlier you will reach.
(2) Work more and earn more.
The more you work, the more you earn.
(3) It becomes cooler at higher places.
The higher we go, the cooler it becomes.
↦ Exercise :–
(1) The hotel is more luxurious and so it is more expensive.
(2) It is hot. I feel uncomfortable.
(3) The road is wide, you can drive fast.
(4) The size is large and so the price is high.
(5) You start sooner. It is better for you.
